Baby Quilt
I picked up some fabric a while ago, it was one of those irrational impulse buys.

I just loved all of its brightness and whimsy.
A friend of mine was pregnant at the time and having a little girl, so I figured I’d make SOMETHING for the baby, but couldn’t decide in time… and was wracked with morning sickness myself. So, the fabric sat.
A few months back they told us that we’d be having another girl…most likely. I still held out hope that it was going to be a little boy, but slowly my mentality was changing as I imagined my two little girls having tea parties complete with fancy dresses and big straw hats, or skipping hand in hand through a shady park singing.
This weekend I finally bit the bullet and decided to use the fabric to make a quilt for our new baby on the way. I hit the fabric store to find some coordinating fabric. I was really rather disappointed, I wanted to pick up some of the funkier colors in the print, maybe the lime-yellow color and the red, or some other combo that isnt your typical “girl” color scheme.
I settled on a batik bright warm purple and some mottled bright blue standard print.
Today I started cutting and piecing.

I think it’ll be lovely and bright, even if it is not your typical “baby” type quilt.
Here’s hoping my lovely toddler does not become jealous. I DO have some fabric awaiting for an “I spy” quilt for her, but I’m running out of time to make multiple quilts AND get ready for the new arrival as we’re due August 28th.
